Morning Routine

This morning, I woke up at 4:30 AM (not a normal time for me) and laid in bed until 5 AM before I decided I wasn’t going to be able to fall back asleep. So I cracked open my computer and started to work on the website re-design project I am doing for my own self-taught lesson in web design coding.
Then realized I need to really get into the habit of posting again since I have taken multiple hiatus’ in the past few months. Posting when I can and scheduling the weekly inspirational quote.
No more! I started this blog for a reason and recently announced that I wanted to become a professional organizer. Well in the long-term goal that will be, in the short-term I want to continue to post not only for myself but for all my followers the benefits of living thrifty green, including budgeting.
Well things have taken a turn at work in a good way, at least in my perspective. I still have so much potential in learning new skills and enhancing the ones I already have. One of our interns has made her decision on what she would like to focus on. Our company’s network offers a program for recent college grads to work for 2 years to learn the ins-and-outs of every department and is to choose where they want to be at the end of the program, which includes continuing to work for us or for another company within our network. She decided that she wanted to do Technology and Sales. Which means that I will get to train her, along with sending her down and doing a six-week training at our corporate headquarters with other interns from other companies within the network.
Since Technology is a huge thing for those in their 20-somethings, like me, I get to go to trainings with some of these interns and it is highly impressive on where they wanted to go and where they decided to go after getting into the program, such as a marine biologist now a Production Manager and so on.
It is actually quite hard in the long-run though mentally for me to be around all of them though… because it isn’t normal for a 20-something to be on staff that wasn’t an intern graduate or a current intern that people find it fascinating when they find out that I am not an intern. I don’t qualify to be an intern. One of the requirements is a Bachelor’s Degree. At this point I still only have my Associate’s. I would like to go back but recently have looked back at my college experience and realized there was so much that I didn’t learn in college that I had to figure out myself that I don’t think going back for at least more education in graphic design would be beneficial. I am thinking about getting a degree in Marketing or a degree in Computer Programming (so I can enhance my computer programming skills… and not the turn the computer on skills the hardcoding, the HTML, the CSS, etc.)
I am a sponge. I absorb information… well not all information… but it is fascinating in how much I know from graphic design to plumbing to computer technology to stage production to trains (well not as much as my EO) to child care.
But back to the point of this article… I have a routine that I am so use to that it is hard to break because of how long I have been doing it. I get up, take a shower, get dressed, feed the cat, grab the things I need for work and leave for work, work and then go home, eat dinner and go to bed. On weekends I have gotten into the habit of getting up, go into living room and watch television while working on the computer or casually cleaning.
I need to alter this just a bit. I use to get up at 5 AM everyday but since I don’t have to go in as early I sleep in an extra hour. Although I would like to get up at 5 AM again that means that I would have to disturb my EO’s sleep and he is a light sleeper so he already has enough issues when I have to get up in the middle of the night to run to the bathroom. I will have to make another adjustment elsewhere. I want to be able to get more done in the morning before I head into work. So I will have to adjust my after work schedule. After work I immediately go home and have dinner (especially when you work 7-5 and overall don’t eat much). Then watch television. This is the part that I can adjust is the after dinner part. I will have to watch less television… which is starting to become easier I notice since there isn’t as many quality television shows on anymore. I will replace this time with an hour of blogging, a ½ of educational activities (via webcasts, videos, etc.) and then watch television.
My weekends will have to be more scheduled. I typically schedule errands on Saturday and leave Sunday for the most part open. Like today I have a haircut, followed by my need to get one more spray tan in before flying out to Houston Monday, followed by going to the post office to pick up my package and to mail my BF’s birthday present (thankfully she is not one of the followers on here so I can tell you that it is a poster of a new movie – that is based on a book series that I introduced her to… which is another story for another time…), go home and wait for the cable guy, while packing for my trip and putting together notes for my temp (which this time I didn’t get done before I left on Friday). Sunday for once has some scheduled events but I typically leave Sunday open as it is a day for rest. But who can rest before a trip. But this Sunday I will be at church doing production and then later in the day at a time I can’t remember (but at least it is in my phone to let me know when) is a barbeque with a group of people for the most part I haven’t seen nor heard from in a long time. I have always been the outsider in the group though because of being the youngest one. (Again another age thing…).
Well back to business…
Happy Saturday!
